Yeah, that's the reference cooler.
Was it blower style or dual fan? The blower cards are the ones that ran really hot. Asus just threw the 780ti cooler on theirs, so those were ****** as well.
Copy what you want from my build for the contest. http://pcpartpicker.com/guide/kJNnTW/msi-build-your-dream-pc-guide-icarus-sli-980ti
Reference 290x? Despite the high temps, a 290x performs very similarly to a 980. You basically downgraded.
Get a cheaper mobo and quad channel ram. Put the extra money into a better CPU cooler and SSDs.
Okay, do you know if the Krait gaming boards count?
Aw man, I don't even know if that's possible to fit in. Those boards are expensive. Thanks for telling me though.
Corsair makes good PSUs, just not the CX line.
I know that 750w is cutting it thin but it will work, but can you find me an 850w PSU that fits in the budget?
Check Nvidia's site.
Nvidia cards can do OpenCl, but AMD can't do Cuda.
Not for gaming though, which the builds are primarily for. Most rendering programs use CUDA anyways.
Those are factory overclocked cards.
This one is fine, two 980ti's only have a tdp of 500w. It will just have a lower lifespan, which is fine.
Haha, thanks for the comment. Those things are cheap and can be added later if needed.
VRAM doesn't double with two cards, and dual GPUs don't scale well at all. A single 980ti would do much better overall.
Do mail in rebates count?
Two 390s over a Fury X or 980ti? Why? That completely ruin the build.
The PSU is way overkill as well.
My build uses the Hyper 212, but I couldn't fit in anything better and stay under budget. I have 2 980ti's though.
