Is the M.2 card supposed to be bent way down like that? I thought you were supposed to move the stand-off at the end to the correct hole.

My god, Intel really dropped the ball with upgrade-ability. Skylake can only go as far as Kaby Lake assuming the specific board has its BIOS updated, then Kaby Lake is a dead-end as Coffee Lake CPUs aren't backwards compatible, and now Icy Lake sounds like it will be more of the same.

Whichever motherboard can help you achieve the highest stable overclocks I would imagine. I'm sure some of it depends on what family of processors you use as motherboards can be selective about it. The one used here for example cannot be paired with a Coffee Lake CPU.

In his defense, it sounds like he's holding out until the crypto bubble bursts and GPU prices standardize again. I'm guessing the 1050 Ti is just a placeholder.

I worked in textbook retail, occasionally the suggested MSRP from the publishers would increase for seemingly no real reason. Then again that job left me bitter about retail as a whole so my thoughts on the matter could be skewed.

I'll be honest, I hadn't even considered mining farms that order cards by the hundreds or even thousands would be a thing. If the mining farms are purchasing directly from the board suppliers then it should be on the suppliers to throttle back the amount sold to them so they can provide for the average consumer market.

Having said that, I don't think the analogy of buying out all the cards at Best Buy or Microcenter having zero impact is fully accurate, simply because a shortage is a shortage regardless of who's causing it. Doing that one time might not impact anything but if it happens at hundreds of stores multiple times to where they struggle to meet demand then retailers could drive up prices all the same.

He only mentions chipset when specifically referring to the B250 chipset and its limitations. Literally every other instance says motherboard or some shorthand for it.

Except B250 is the name of the chipset. That's why the motherboard has that in its name, so you know what chipset it uses. The LGA1151 uses a variety of chipsets with different features.
