haha ty! mouse pad is a Corsair MM600
Yeah my steam libary is all on one of the intel ssd's, and It depends on the game, i dont see a big difference from my htpc with HDD on games from my stram libary. But on an mmo where it has to load big open world maps i see a big difference in load times.
ty i am glad you like the build!
Ty! Hopefully they will if MSI releases a Gtx 980 ti Lightning edition :D
Yeah MMO player here so midrange card it is, it's the monitors keyboard etc that add up the cost and multiple SSD's added over time. This build started in 2012, I just got a new case and GPU
not everything was purchased at once. i don't play any high demanding games and don't intend to purchase a higher res monitor anytime in the near future. i primarily play MMO's and none on the market requires anything higher than a mid range card, the 660 i had before maxed out all the games i play. the ram was overkill i am aware i got dominator platinums for the look. i didn't buy all the ssd's at once and bought more over time cause i ran out of space for games etc. i am quite aware i could've gotten better parts for less than what i spent lol but that was not the point of this build, it was a black and yellow theme, had i wish for more performance per dollar i would've done so
i just realized which light bar mod you were talking about (was thinking of the old mod where you change the stock light) i am highly considering it now xD
ty! glad you like the build!
Ty! Yeah I have the 8 pin sleeved cable already and currently waiting for my local Microcenter to get the 6 pin one in stock. The GPU im not gonna mess with for im hoping MSI releases the Lightning edition of the 980 ti, if they don't than I will consider the light mod for the windforce logo. The different texture dominators are quite annoying lol I'll look into the light bar mod. Thx for the recommendations and glad you enjoy the build!
the only painting i did was on the rings for the corsair fans and the pci slot covers. the case itself came in black and yellow. to my knowledge it is a micro center exclusive. this version is not even on the nzxt website
thx man i appreciate that! glad you enjoy the build :D
Nice! Black and green sounds awesome!
Unfortunately no, at least not on the 960, I believe the 980 ti has the RGB capabilities
Yes! Glad to be here!
Yes I however i primarily play MMOs so the card runs all my games at max. i would look up the games you currently play/want to play and see how they run on various cards, and Ty! Glad you enjoy the build!
Ty! Glad you enjoy the build. I picked up the case at my local Microcenter, I don't see it online anywhere or see it on the NZXT website so I assume it's exclusive to Microcenter and maybe some other local computer electronics retailers.
ah i see, appreciate the tip!
ty! yeah its the monitors/peripherals that make it go up that high xD i mainly play MMOs on a 1920 x 1200 monitor so anything over a mid range card would be overkill for me. the SSD's were pricey at the time i got them, i have 1 for OS and main programs, second one is for steam games and third is for photography
Ty :D Sorry to hear about the faulty stick, hopefully you get your replacement soon!
i dont play any games really that demand that high of a gpu. i generally play MMOs and no MMOs out there are graphic intensive enough for me to get anything higher than a mid-range card, the exception being if msi releases a lightning edition of a high end card i would get it simply to match the build
ty! yeah no card currently goes with this theme at least within the 900 series, i am hoping msi comes out with a 980 ti lightning edition or 390x lightning edition. i have the rad on the front intake pulling in cool air rather than pulling heat from gpu out, or are you recommending it on back pulling air in?
Yeah they come in handy a lot, too true about the black and red/blue. Probably cause the majority of mobo's are the same black and red/blue theme. Nice to see builds out of that color scheme, that's exactly what I was aiming for and good luck with the black and gold build! I am sure it will look amazing!
hmm makes sense, yeah i really didn't do research on 2gb vs 4gb on the 960, i had the 2gb model and it had artifacts and when i went to exchange noticed they had 4gb models and just picked that up, sadly it is to late for me to exchange it again :/
xD was a 30 dollar price difference for 4gb model
i have before but with the white light on the top of the case i cant even see the light from the platinums
switch 810 was to big for my desk and s340 black and yellow lol. the switch 810 will not be neglected though, i'm selling it to my friend who is gonna use it to its full potential and do a custom loop in it.
the light plugs into a small box shown in my 3rd photo it's the light blue box on the top of the case than from there it connects to a 4 pin molex on psu
yeah its how it came out of the box, seems to be microcenter exclusive. not even on the nzxt website. the pci slot covers i painted yellow when i was doing the rings for the 120 and 140mm fans just to add a touch more yellow in the build :)
they had one for the 780, and right after they released that card nvidia released the 780 ti so msi had to lower the price they had on the 780 which apparently hurt them (so i read) only rumors atm on a 980 ti lightning. hopefully it comes out and if they do a 390x lightning they'd be awesome
i am sorry, i did not know :o
yeah it is rather annoying, i don't understand why they did that, i got 8gb kits about a year apart from each other so i just figured they changed how they made them
i try my best not to lol, i have cats and their hair gets all over the side panel and they like to jump on my desk and rub on it when i am sleeping -_- lol. one can only go through so many cans of compressed air xD
yeah i know.. xD
my hopes is that Msi will release a 980 Ti Lightning which is usually black and yellow, i will get one of those if it comes out
this is what i used for the light. imo i've used a couple of different brands for these lights and they always come with really crappy Velcro tape for mounting. it always falls off lol so i just go out and get 3M double sided foam tape. that stuff works awesome and the light never falls down when i use it. also i am glad you like the build!
