SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 1 point 6 days ago

It was cool but did not perform well for me. It died on me. I'm still weighing my options on a new mobo. I might just throw the 9900k in another machine I'm using instead of maxing out the build form again.

Love it.

Ah, yea. That would have been nice. I was an early bird backer at kickstart launch.

There's an updated rear panel already? Not out in the wild yet, is it?

It fit fine in my experience.

For the size and price it delivers a lot!

It's a "K Table Lamp" by Vitamin Living out of the UK.

I'm in the US and bought it through a design retailer here called A+R: https://www.aplusrstore.com/product/2625/k-table-lamp

Here's another link to their list of worldwide retailers: http://vitaminliving.com/stockists/

The light they give off is faint but pleasant. Though not quite strong enough to be a reading light.

The Noctua NH-L12 that I'd mentioned before and that was on the test link from louqe.

That'll fit with the vengence. Just make sure you opt for a mobo other than the Asus rog itx, if you want that bigger cooler. The built in IO shield also gets in the way.

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

Not at all. Another Louqe builder and I were laughing about that. He hadn't noticed it either.

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

No problem on questions.

In this case you can't fit anything bigger/better than the NH-L12 with the bottom fan only (couldn't fit in mine). A 9x65 with a 120 fan mounted would be too tall; the case is at max capacity as it stands with the 9x65 and the NF-A9x14 fan it comes with.

Louqe has a list of recommended specs on their website: https://www.louqe.com/files/heatsink_test_ghost_s1_MkII.pdf

I recommend these fans for a mid-sized tophat: https://noctua.at/en/products/fan/nf-a12x15-pwm

Really, maxing out this case with a 2080ti will still generate a good amount of noise from the fans on the GPU no matter how you slice it.

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Yea. I think if you went with the medium tophat and got some thin exhaust fans like shuriken's or the 15mm noctuas, you'd be much better off temps wise.

I've been pretty impressed with temps on my 9900k so far with this little 9x65 noctua cooler on it. I'm not planning on overclocking in this build, so it's been pretty smooth. That said, if I hadn't used the Asus mobo and Dominator Platinums, I could've squeezed a bigger cooler in there. But the Dominators were going in!

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

I have a founders 2080ti in it now and it's getting much hotter than I'm comfortable with when in a graphics-intensive game. There's plenty of ventilation, but I think you'd want the extra exhaust if you were gaming nonstop.

I've removed the top a couple times when I was on a couple Civ6 marathons to give it the extra breathing room.

This is beyond beyond beyond, I mean, the wood alone... Congrats on this huge undertaking.

I totally agree about the rose-gold base to help tie everything together.

Is that office it's final resting place? That's my only sticking point: I'm so confused about how it is supposed to exist in tandem with everything else in that room.

Thanks. It’s really a remarkable case.

The work you did on that FTZ is pretty great too :)

It’s a great keyboard! I’ve got cherry mix blue switches in it. I haven’t found a complete key cap replacement for it that tickles my fancy more than the colored keys they provided. Yet.

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thank you! I noticed that "turbulence" comment on the Louqe heatsink test chart. I have not seen or heard anything like that yet. Maybe the pressure caused some rattling of the side panel during their tests.

I've ran it with and without the panels locked in position with screws and haven't run into anything wild so far.

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Nice! Have fun with your build. I spent like 3 minutes trying to slide the panels off before I noticed the locking screws at the bottom :P

Looking forward to seeing what you put together.

It's funny. Anyone that builds in a SFF usually says it'll be a while before they do another, because it's equal parts pleasure and pain. This was pretty easy though.

You should post the build you've got now so you can share with the community and have a record of it.

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Frankly, I'm pretty floored by the temp results on the 9900k with the 9x65. I was expecting much worse given the grumbling that's going on out there about the i9, and how that cooler barely fit. The blower style cooler on the Titan and middle mounting wall do a pretty good job of keeping any extra heat from populating the CPU area.

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Amazing. Thank you! All compliments are appreciated :)

It's been crushing just about everything so far.

I really really dig the case. If you have the opportunity to build in one, I recommend you take the plunge. The whole design of the thing is so novel that if you're not put off by the wait and price, then you should go for it. I expect the GPU market will flatten out some too now that crypto has continued to fall.

I'd seen a couple other Ghost builds pop up here, but I wanted to take a bunch of pictures to show off the case a bit more. Thanks for checking it out!

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thank you! :)

The case was kickstarted and came with a few other pieces (expandable inserts called "tophats") that I didn't use in the build. It's definitely a premium case but that quality is visible immediately; milled aluminum, powder coated internals, included custom pciE extension and power pass-through.

I'd say it is priced pretty fairly all things considered. But yea... I hear you there.

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Thanks! They really are amazing, but some can be such a darn pain to work in! This one on the other hand... it's almost too easy.

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Aww thanks! Yea, this was certainly a lot easier. Mostly just plug and play thanks to the ease of the case and no modding of any kind. I wanted to have something really sleek and simple. I'm looking into taking it off the deep end with a custom loop in the future and some other neat tweaks, but since this case is so novel as it is, I kinda wanted to play with all configurations in it.

I'm really digging how clean and simple it is right now.

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

I already had a Titan xp on hand from a wonderful and amazing sister-in-law. (Thank you, thank you)

I would have considered a blower version if they all didn't look like an ugly black rectangles. Frankly, I only have a Founders 2080ti because I was just blown away by how pretty the darn hardware was. It's currently in another build though

I do intend to run some tests with it in the near future, particularly paired with the i9. And take some beauty shots.... :)

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

But it's so slick, it dusts off its shoulders. :P

Seriously though, filtration isn't much of an issue given its so easy to slide open and hit with some canned air. It isn't any louder idle than much else. If sound is your issue because you are running intensive apps 24/7, mITX probably isn't the best option for you anyhow. You'll run into similar problems with other cases.

Thanks for checking it out.

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks man. I considered it for a minute. At heart I'm a noctua fanboy and will take most any chance to get a new cooler or fan from them. But really, I didn't want to add to the size of the case.

Or maybe it's the noctua thing... I dunno. Two strikes. I'll scheme for a crazy loop in the future with a custom resevoir layer or something outrageous like that.

I'm also kind of curious to see performance in the case, just form a design perspective. I'll definitely play with part configurations some time in the future.

SirMints's Completed Build: Titanite - LOUQE Ghost S1

SirMints submitter 3 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

Thank you!! I've been excited for this case to show up.

Thermals for me so far are acceptable, maybe 1C hotter on the GPU than when I ran it in my Noctua build. By and large, the center mounting wall of the case does a good job of keeping passive hot air from the GPU invading the motherboard side. The blower-style cooler helps as well for sure.

I'm gonna try temps with the Founders 2080ti, but I'm worried that without adding extra fans to push the air out, the whole case will suffer some heat issues. And I don't really want to add the tophat to add the fans, increase the case size, etc...

Awww schucks! Thanks man! I don't have the Pantones handy anymore but I know Noctua has posted them a few times before. They're also really easy to get in touch with via instagram if you have any questions for them.

Be sure to post your build here too. I can't wait to see more Noctua-related goodness on PCPP :)
