manirelli's Build Guide: Excellent AMD Gaming Build

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 3 months ago

Tbh I'd go for a 2700 just for those extra cores

RetnuhTnelisV's Completed Build: Nephilim

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 20 months ago

Beautiful build, what'd you do for the delid? I'm thinking of upgrading from a 6600k to a 7700k and I definitely want to delid.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 22 months ago

Suggestion for those who want a gaming build roughly like this and around the same price, get a 250-500GB SSD and a 1-2TB Hard Drive, get 16GB of RAM instead, and use the savings to buy a 1080 or 1080Ti instead, not sayimg that this build is bad, but it is a content creation PC, not gaming. Also, get a full sized ATX board, you get more expandability for the future.

DrDahl's Completed Build: Liquid Silver 901

Dude, that thing is sweet, +1, and I'm calling a feature right here.

UPDATE TO 4 CORE OR 6 CORE RYZEN PLEASE!!!!!

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

It means the company hasn't made brackets for AM4 motherboards yet, just use the stock cooler then. Ryzen stock coolers are actually really good.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

3200 if you want to do it at the fastest speed possible. But honestly RAM speed doesn't matter as much as RAM amount. Just get something cheap and adequate for your need.

tbohlsen@gmail.com's Completed Build: My gaming machine

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

Noctua's probably the best air cooler manufacturer in the world. Their best design will beat most top of the line water coolers.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 2 points 23 months ago

True but you get so much more for the price. The cheapest R5 has double the threads of the i5s. As well as having a lower TDP and a decent stock cooler. $30 saved right there w/o the lower price of the R5 factored in. Intel is the losing team right now bro, AMD is coming back hard.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

Terrible idea. Pre-builts are a bad idea for price to performance.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 2 points 23 months ago

It can, but not a huge amount.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

In the PSU box the wires will be there. Use CPU labeled cables for the CPU port, and use VGA cables for the ports on the GPU. The rest is rather self explanatory. If you need more help look up a building tutorial on youtube. Also for future reference ask on the forums.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 2 points 23 months ago

Pretty good but I would get Ryzen rather than Intel because of the extra performance you get for the same price.

G4TN's Completed Build: First ever build, 4 years in the making

Slurth 1 Build 3 points 23 months ago

Gotta say pretty decent. Grab a better PSU though, that one looks kinda sketchy...

ORACLEpcb's Completed Build: Back to Life

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

Why 32 GBs of RAM lol, could have gotten 16 and gotten a GTX 1070 for about the same price.

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

Hell yeah man.

azianwutang's Completed Build: Silver Bullet

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

When did you get the CPU, cause the 7700k is the same price and will OC to 5 GHz easy.

azianwutang's Completed Build: Silver Bullet

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 23 months ago

When did you build this?

ath1337's Completed Build: Portable 4K mATX Build - Hybrid Cooled Titan Xp

Nah bad idea bro, 1080 SLI will beat 1 Titan XP any day m8.

manirelli's Build Guide: Excellent Gaming Build

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

WE WANT RYZEN 5 AND WE WANT IT NOW! Lol. Do it, Ryzen 5s are cheaper or similarly priced to this CPU with a lower TDP.

Girlfriend (I presume) of the year! This build looks great, +1

manirelli's Build Guide: Enthusiast AMD Ryzen Gaming Build

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

Pretty quality, instead of 1TB of SSD space you should get a 256 SSD and a 2 TB to save money.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

Suggestion, use the Enthusiast gaming build guide instead of this one, it is the same price and has a 1080 instead of a 1070, and while it doesn't have as much storage, you can always get a cheap 2 TB HDD. The motherboard on the other guide is better looking and allows SLI for the future if you're thinking about that.

Razer4Life's Completed Build: Progress, Over Time..

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

Not half bad...

Slurth's Completed Build: Red Death

Slurth submitter 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

Yes. Z270 and Z170 are practically identical except with a couple new features.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 3 points 24 months ago

Yes because the difference between the 1700 and the 1800X can be narrowed by OCing which the motherboard supports, therefore not justifying the $200 dollar premium for higher speeds out of the box.

Slurth's Completed Build: Red Death

Slurth submitter 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

That's fine

Slurth's Completed Build: Red Death

Slurth submitter 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

Crossfire btw, SLI is an NVidia thing.

Slurth's Completed Build: Red Death

Slurth submitter 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

I like the look of red PCs, they look aggressive and clean. Besides I finished it before Ryzen came out and I just put it up. Plus AMD's GPUs are more for the builder with a budget and they don't have the performance of a 1070.

Slurth's Completed Build: Red Death

Slurth submitter 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

Pretty good, MSI is pretty reliable and the 1080 isn't a bad idea either.

Slurth's Completed Build: Red Death

I was, although Red Death is a pretty ****** exotic.

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 24 months ago

Love it! +1.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 3 points 25 months ago

Love the build! There are a few things kind of iffy about it though, the motherboard isn't the biggest you can get and offers less expansion options. +1 still.

absolute512's Completed Build: My First Ryzen

Slurth 1 Build 2 points 25 months ago

Pretty sweet, what's the benchmarks results? FPS on triple A titles? Love AMD builds, they're a great company. I'm glad they're finally getting better CPUs and GPUs.

Custom water! Custom water! Dude this build is pretty beastly. It'd be insane if you could fit a whole custom loop in that beast. I love it!

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 2 points 25 months ago

I'd get an R7 1700 instead of the i7 7700 now. The R7 1700 has more cores and threads which will help with editing more than the i7 7700.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 0 points 25 months ago

No. If you have a choice to invest in some hardware that is a similar price with more cores and threads that will be better optimized in the future for only a 10 FPS loss now, you should get it. If you decide to get an i7 7700 now you're just being stupid when the R7 1700 is better for around the same price. While it doesn't have the performance now, it's soon going to rival/beat the i7 7700 in streaming and gaming and it will DESTROY the i7 7700 in video editing. If you buy the i7 7700 now, you are investing in the past, if you buy the R7 1700 you are investing in the future.

ThoughtA's Build Guide: Gaming, Streaming, and Editing Build

Slurth 1 Build 2 points 25 months ago

No Ryzen? Get an R7 1700 instead guys, it's about $40 more but you get 4 extra cores and 8 extra threads.

Osan's Completed Build: Osiris v3

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

Pretty good, 60 fps+ settings cranked on most games I play. GTA V and Fallout 4 will get less than 60 but I have every, and I mean every setting cranked to the max. In nature sections of GTA V I'll get less than 60, but keep in mind GTA V says that I'm using 5+ GB of VRAM which your card right now doesn't even have. Fallout is just badly optimized so even a 1080 is going to struggle to get more than 60 fps on demanding areas with the settings cranked, but I love the 1070, it's a great card. Sorry for the wall of text.

creedman7's Completed Build: Cougar MX200- Meow mix Edition

Slurth 1 Build 1 point 25 months ago

Yeah, but me I'd just sell the parts individually. You could probably sell the i7 for $150+ or with the mobo for like $220. You could also sell the 650 ti for about $30-$50. The rest, other than the Drives and RAM, is worthless

Osan's Completed Build: Osiris v3

This was my planned build before Pascal came out, GTX 1070 life for me now! +1
