zonjax's Completed Build: Cyberjunk 2020

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 1 point 21 hours ago

Read up on the error critical_process_died, seems that you may need bios/driver updates. Other people had the same BSOD when their drivers were corrupted. I also second Samsy, maybe those M.2s should have heatsinks on them. My M.2s operate around 45 during normal use. Maybe the higher capacity on yours are the cause?

zonjax's Completed Build: Cyberjunk 2020

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 2 points 21 hours ago

Great name, and to be fair this probably will be junk in 2020... You know, Moore's Law?

Just kidding, this should hold up for a long time. Nice work! As a fellow SG13 owner, I give this one a +1

Jonm0bius's Completed Build: OSMI upgrade

jamesthebard's Completed Build: Road Less Travelled

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 2 points 4 days ago

Wait, how did I miss this? There is no way that i'm actually looking at a 2990wx, VEGA Frontier custom loop! Love the build, and the PCI-E M.2 card. What do you use this for exactly? And how are your temps?

EMMK's Completed Build: Minimalistic XEON PC Build !

michaelpeters's Completed Build: Budget RGB Ryzen 3 Build

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 4 points 6 days ago

I'm getting pretty tired of explaining this. The 2200g, when overclocked, is as fast as an i5-7500. An i5-7500 can easily support a GTX 1080, in fact many people do pair the two.

Simon_Riley's Completed Build: Chromax Yellow Meshify C

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 5 points 6 days ago

You need to realize that not everybody has the ability to customize a machine or afford a 500 dollar custom loop. Anyone can recreate this build, and should provide good inspiration for anyone who likes it.

You literally ripped this machine from this website. That person probably spent tons of time building that machine just for you to take his credit. Smh..

CrossFarm's Completed Build: The First Time PC Builder The Mismatch PC?

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 1 point 14 days ago

If I were you I wouldn't really be too worried about your bottleneck. In a couple of months, AMD is projected to release a GTX 1080 performance card for a really affordable price ($250 to $350 hopefully) and you can just upgrade to that. If you can't for whatever reason, then your RX 580 should do justice for a while.

The build looks great, especially for a first one. +1

FabianX's Completed Build: ITX Power LGA 2066

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 2 points 20 days ago

Oh wow, I didn't notice that the reservoir was mounted on the outside, on the radiator!?? This is so cool, is it something that Phobya does exclusively? Finally, If you like Raijintek you could try building a machine in this case... it would be a cool challenge I would imagine

Forum Topic "Around $800 Gaming build"

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 1 point 22 days ago

it has a price advantage over the 1060 for the same performance and is cheaper than a 1070 with less performance or slightly less performance when overstocked. Also, AMD ftw!

l3eans's Completed Build: Watercooled X58 Tinker Build

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 1 point 28 days ago

Hey, it's me again.

I'm actually about to go X58 and get a second Radeon HD 7770 and do a crossfire machine! I really just found this post again, because I am planning on getting the same motherboard. I appreciate you for fueling my obsession (even if it is somewhat irrational) of these old Xeon machines.

Dj_aspinator's Completed Build: my budget build £250

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

I don't recommend a Hyper 212, instead go for a Noctua DH-15/14 series cooler or a reputable 240mm AIO.

Killshotgn's Completed Build: Ultimate Used build

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

The 3930k is still a great chip even in late 2018. My guess is that it comes close to the 2600 even in performance, but most people won't use it because X79 platform motherboards are in no way cheap, even on the used market. The i7-2600k even will perform greatly with a GTX 1080, it simply all comes down to how you configure your system.

gf3's Completed Build: Medium Thicc

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Expected to see this question, a few reasons come to my mind at the very least

1) Upgradability, you can upgrade to some of the most powerful chips out there

2) A crap-ton of PCI-E lanes

3) Bragging rights

ziollos's Completed Build: Two xeons watercooled inside NZXT S340

I can tell you straight away that it is soft. I think if he did it properly, hardline would triple the sex factor of this build.

firemike's Completed Build: SG13 Appreciation Post

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 2 points 1 month ago

Thinking about joining the undying army of Sugo owners, I am really excited for when my ITX board comes in so I can join in on the SFF experience. I might even liquid cool just for better temps, because it looks like an air cooler would be mounted directly under the PSU. One last thing, is the Sugo small enough for backpack use? Regardless, nice machine and +1

kBessa's Completed Build: Home Theater Gaming PC

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Really? Personally I would use a 7700t because they boost similarly and perform pretty much the same. Otherwise, for a build like this, you wouldn't really need anything more than this (like coffee lake etc)

ScrewyNinja's Completed Build: 8700K Gaming Update

ThriftStoreRaider 9 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Soft tubing is generally better for when you plainly want the benefits of a custom loop but minus the added work of hardline. I personally don't mind it.

If I wanted to spend 2500 dollars, I would ask for a 2500 dollar machine.
