This is a gorgeous build! I mean I love RGB and fancy water loops with clear tubing, but this site is all about creative good looking builds. Even though this isn't a flashy crazy lit up build, it's beautifully crafted, and serves a purpose. I absolutely love this.
I want to do a compact build for my wifes work PC in this case. Nice work man, this is a simple yet effective build.
Make sure the bios is updated. They recently updated the bios for the asus boards to support higher memory clocks. I only know this because I own an asus ryzen board.
;) Epic build my dude!
How is gaming on the frontier edition? I'm seriously considering getting Vega over a 1080ti.
Where did you find that GPU bracket and those fan grills? I love them!
How do you like the Classified card?
Okay so in the bios, where it says D.O.C.P settinga try the standard profile. D.O.C.P is Ryzens version of XMP. Once done, scroll to the bottom of the extreme tweaker settings page to see if the standard profile made memory voltage go to 1.35, that's the voltage it needs to be at.
Update the bios from Asus, I have mine running at 3200 with the latest Bios update.
I used to be such an Intel fanboy till my Gigabyte motherboard fried my 5820K due to an overvoltage issue with a beta bios. I switched to Ryzen 7 and havent looked back. How's threadripper treating you?
ah nice! you have your fans well optimized then! Nice work.
That EK Dbay is so sick....
Only critique I can make is move that GPU rad to the front for better cooling. The rad at the back will suck in hot air and make for higher temps. in the front as an intake will cool better, but nice freaking build my man!
Planning on getting a freesync monitor from Samsung or AOC. I might wait till the partner cards come out though
A recommendation for pure aesthetics would be to get the black Noctua industrial fans, they're awesome and would go more with the overall look. Nonetheless, nice first build man!
Kinda mad at you....
Had to buy a new keyboard because I ruined my old one with drool from looking at this for too long. Nice build my man!
How are you liking Vega so far? I'm highly considering getting that to replace my 1070.
USD, sorry for that should have specified
How well does that AIO water cooler cool the processor? I like the looks of it!
Dude this build is freaking gorgeous!
I know man, I'm so stoked to get Ryzen
nothing as fancy as this, but I'm running some Def Tech floor standing speakers (forget the models, but the newest models). I'm a Twitch streamer so I have a preamp, mic, and mixer right now too. Headphones, audioquest nighthawks, vmoda m-100's, and beyerdynamic custome one pro's hooked up to a creative soundblaster ZXR and a handbuilt tube amp I made myself :)
Still jealous of those B&W's man, I love that company.
I'm running a 5820k but need more threads and better encoding, I think Ryzen 1800X will be an upgrade for me.
As an audio guy, I appreciate the list, sweet build man! How's the 1800X treating you?
+1 for anything CryoRig! I use the same cooler with a thicker fan on my 5820k and it keeps that CPU cool. Nice work bud!
Bit of an audio guy, nice choice on the Fidelio's +1 ;)
I already sold it for $230 on ebay. Don't pass that deal up on Jet bud! That's too good to pass up
if you can show me a link, id like to see that. I've only seen the 470's for $200 on Jet
I only ship with UPS, damage claims through the Post Office are awful. I used to work with logistics for multiple shipping companies.
Good call on the Schiit! I have the same setup with the AudioQuest NightHawks. Such a nice clean sound
+1 for the Fiio amp, im an audio guy haha
+1 for using the 5820k, just got mine! Beast of a CPU, congrats on the first build!
+1 for anything CryoRig!
$200 will get it. This processor is going for that on Ebay without free shipping. I'm doing the shipping so it's fair.
I'll do $200 on the processor, scoured Ebay last night and couldn't find one under $200 with free shipping
An i7 is your best because of hyperthreading. If I were you. save up a little more money and get an i7 6700k if you're on the Z170 socket, or go with an X99 PC and get a 6 core or better. Video encoding can be very taxing on the CPU especially if you're doing high resolutions.
im not worried about the gameplay as much as the actual stream. im on the verge of maxing the i5 out, because I play a lot of high action games. I can notice some stuttering here and there
it'll handle gaming to a certain extent but it has stuttering every now and then and im just not happy with it.
okay let me ask you this, I have enough money to get a 5820k and a new motherboard. Would that be a better route? I will eventually get one of these options later, im just trying to find the best solution for now.
Thanks for the help BTW
As the first Whiteshadow on Xbox Live I approve.
Sexy build man, love CryoRig and NZXT!!!
it's pretty beastly, devils canyon is still solid
how solid is that motherboard? I'm doing a build with a 6800k soon and want to go full asus. It looks awesome!
6800k it is! cause I may have to get a second 1080 for my current build
Thanks so much for the help! I'll have the extra cash so I may spring for the 6850k, but you have helped me greatly! I may upgrade my current to a z170 setup eventually, but for right now the 4790k will suffice and it performs admirably.
No gaming will be done on this rig, my other rig will soon have a 4790k in it and will be used for gaming. This new rig with the 6800k will be for rendering videos and streaming with obs. I'll need more encoding performance.
im going to be video editing as well. My wife may use it to do photo editing
I thought about Zen,. but not enough info to defer me from intel.
is the encoding on the 6700k as good as the 6800 or 6850? the new rig will be strictly for streaming and content creation such as rendering videos and streaming to twitch
i've heard others say that, but I really want to go broadwell-e
6700k, 6800k, 6850k. I want something that will encode better. I'm upgrading my current rig to the 4790k since it's on z97 and it'll be used as my gaming rig. The new rig will have all new parts, such as the CPU we are talking about now.
