I have a slight recommendation, since the computer has sentimental value, keep the case and upgrade the parts inside. You could modify the case for airflow, get rid of the 2 blank dvd bay brackets and one dvd drive, then you can get a 5.25x3 to 120mm fan bay converter on amazon for 13 dollars, along with a fan and fan grill. then you would have a 120mm mounted in the front. another addition you could do to the case is using a dremel tool to cut and mould your own 120 or 140mm fan mounts for better airflow.

The problem with that statement is that the game has to support hyper threading as to being native to real cores. Although what is the single core performance between the two?

Seasonic is a great brand for power supplys. i went with the i7 since it was feasible with the budget and could potentionally be used in the future by the user. Also the 960 will do great at 1080p at ultra.
