No they are not. I have a V300 128GB which has a read/write speed of 240MB/s and 96MB/s according to CrystalDiskMark. My WD 1TB HDD has a read/write speed of 168MB/s and 170MB/s for about the same price. So yes, it is not worth it.
OMG this completely blew my eyes... looking at own build sobbing
Holy crap that's like almost $800 O_O
Sounds like in the US we got the best deals around haha xD
I will sir! Dem cable demons ain't got nothing on my proness :)
Aw man that sucks... Do you guys have Black Friday/Cyber Week deals?
Thanks for the advice! I'll make sure to grab a ton of zip-ties and I'll try my best!
Yeah the prices on Black Friday literally made my jaw drop! I was thinking maybe I could wait for a couple more months but I couldn't help haha :D
Thank you good sir! Since I'm in my school's robotics team I have vast access to zip-ties, Velcro ties and all kinds of good stuff :) I'll clean everything up next weekend after the finals :( hugs you back
Haha I was thinking about that. I don't have an optical drive or anything so I might just do that.
Yeah I already am... After a couple of games now I only have ~20G left on the SSD :( and yes I will try my absolute best next weekend to fix & reroute these damn cables. Will post pics once I'm done! Thanks for the comment :)
Sorry to ask you this but could you maybe post some benchmarks? It's totally fine if you don't but I'm just kinda concerned since I really really don't want to return it if I don't have to. Thank you!
How's that SSD working for you? I just bought the same one for my pc and from the reviews I've read I'm pretty concerned about it underperforming since Kingston switched from synchronous NAND to asynchronous...
Wow! Just about the most beautiful watercooled rig ive seen on here so far.
Thanks for serving our country! Hows that asus monitor working for ya? Awesome build! +1
He mentioned in the intro that he needs to do machine learning and big data analysis. So that's probably what justifies for the quad channel RAM.
Just a suggestion - no matter how non-graphics dependent this build might be, I'd still recommend opting for a better GPU than the 5450 (alternatives that suit the purposes of this PC include the GT 730 GDDR5, etc.) simply because it's just better and more reliable! Some might disagree with me but that's just what I think and what I would've done if I had to build a computer like this one. Nice build nonetheless!
Ok that makes much more sense. Nice build nonetheless! +1 all the way
That CPU is great for the budget. However, the GPU certainly will not last you a few years. For that price point (I assume you're going for $900-$950) you should've at the very least gotten a GTX 760 or R9 280.
Yeah think the GTX 900 series will be out by then so might as well upgrade to one of these. Or, when you get enough cash, buy a second 760 4gb and sli these :)
Can you still return the 760 for a 770? If you can I'd strongly recommend that. Great build nonetheless! +1
Awesome build man. Loving that cable management! And I know that this has already been asked a couple of times but where the HELL did you get that i7 for only $220???
Jsyk You can manually change the price in the completed build partlist. Nice build nontheless
Lol ok then sorry about the misunderstanding. Anyway yeah Corsair rams are really good but for the budget AData is still pretty good.
I'm not saying for half the price. The total he paid for these 4 ramsticks is 52.99*4=$211.96, while he could've gotten this 2x8gb kit for $139.99, which is $211.96-$139.99=$71.97 less.
I might be wrong, but I think you got ripped off on the RAM part. You could've gotten a 16gb kit for around ~$50 lower.
Definitely... Crysis 3 and Metro 2033 are both extremely GPU-punishing games. Regarding the molecular modeling part, do you work in a lab or a medical institution or something like that? Just curious.
Np ;) Guess you could just wait for the GTX 880 to come out or get another 680 and do a SLI. However I believe that GTX 680 is already EOL so you'd probably have to buy one on ebay if you decide to do that.
Did you buy the 680 a long time ago? Because you could've gotten a 770 that outperforms it. Awesome build nonetheless! +1 all the way!
Probably as good as a mid-range gaming build as of April 2014?
+1 for the build, but more description and pics please? This sure looks like a solid build!
Like what other people said, the only thing I don't like about this build is the PSU. Aside from that everything looks awesome.
Oh fair enough. Sorry dude I didn't see your budget was $700... If that's the case then yeah damn solid build for the price!
I'd say at least a R9 280X or GTX 770 if you favor NVIDIA to match that CPU you have (assuming you do a ton of overclocking). And dude r9 270 might be a good card for the budget but it's definitely not one of the best cards in today's world.
Nice build but why not a better graphics card? +1'd nontheless
Get a liquid cooler like the H100i. If your CPU is under that heavy load that piece of **** cooler definitely won't suffice.
:D ikr! and i was just making a joke haha I would personally upvote this 100 times if I could
Please do not... It's still a sexy build nontheless
Dat's a sexy build and desk setup you got there!
Why 660? Why not a 270X or even higher for the price point you were going for?
Nah, if I start buying parts now they'd be all outdated by the time I gather enough of them :/ counts money in piggy bank
Glad you got outta it man... Guess I ain't gonna be able to build myself a pc until college it seems :/
Why not a better GPU...
Philip you of course are a lot more of an expert than I am at building PCs in general but I personally think that the BitFenix Prodigy looks a LOT better than this case and that it should give you more clearance after installing the H100i. Just my personal opinion :)
You got the GPU for $150!!?? If only I was this lucky... Guess I'll just stick with my Acer laptop and go cry in a corner ;_;
Even if that's the case I still think he should've sold the 7790 and get a 770 or 280x because the 7790 is like a 4 years old card if I'm not mistaken.
Considering their performance compared to the price of this build, yes they are pieces of junk.
Why that crossfire setup!? For that $300 you could've gotten a 770 or a R9 280X which are both WAAAAAY nicer cards than these 2 pieces of junk!
Yeah he needs to upgrade his GPU for that tho :P
Nice build man! Impressive for your first build!
