Very cool list. Looks really straightforward and easy to assemble. I think it will serve your purpose well. If you ever need more ram, you can always just buy another stick and throw it in there.

Other than that, the list looks pretty solid at first glance. It looks like you know what you want.

To utilize internet the best, use a wired Ethernet connection. If that is not available, use a PCI-E based wifi card. If you can afford it, get the 2080 as it would be a nice bump in performance, but that's up to you. The 2070 will definitely be viable in the coming years. The GTX 970 was released in 2014 and is still a good gaming card today. If you play with a 144Hz monitor (which I very highly recommend) the 2080 will be able to pull 144fps+ longer than the 2070 will be able to.

Also, if you plan on streaming, 16 gb of RAM would be nice.

That gpu will be able to run the game with almost everything on EPIC and get around 60 fps. 240GB of storage will fill up fast if you're planning on storing footage on your ssd. You may want to look into getting a 1Tb hdd for around the same price.

I glanced over your build and everything looks good IMO. The PSU should be fine. I have the same one in my rig and I overclock both my CPU and GPU with no problem (gtx 1080 & i7 6700k). I think you'll be fine with the 3 fans since they are 140mm and you have a beast of a Noctua cooler supporting airflow to your exhaust, but more fans can never hurt. I usually opt to have more intake than exhaust to create positive pressure and avoid dust. As for an optical drive... I see them as being outdated, but if you think you would use it in the future, then use it. For me, I have a portable one if I ever need one.

Good luck on your build!

The hyper 212 sometimes (like on my first build)hovers over 1 ram slot making high profile ram not fit in that one spot. Just keep that in mind if you plan on getting more ram in the future.

Forum Topic "Finalizing Parts list (Noob builder)"

frankybuilds 4 Builds 1 point 29 months ago

Hmmm... The CPU cooler is fine, although an aio loop or something like the noctua nh-u12s will give cooler temps. A Western Digital blue would work fine. I would definitely recommend a modular/semi modular psu like the corsair cx550m. In your build, you have 3 pci components that may not all fit on the 3 pci slots. An atx mobo would solve that problem. ALSO, your mobo doesn't support 3.0 headers so, any usb 3.0s on any case will be useless. A gtx 1060 is an alternative option to the 760. As for a case maybe you would want to go with an NZXT s340 and use an external dvd drive to install the OS and anything else you need it for. And I am not too familiar with sound cards, although some MSI and Asus Mobo's have awesome integrated sound.

They work just fine. I used those usb 3.0 ports on the top of my case to install the OS Via an external DVD drive. I also used those ports to update the BIOS version. They work fine with no problem.

Forum Topic "opinion wanted"

frankybuilds 4 Builds 1 point 30 months ago

looks solid. You need a DVD drive, an OS, and case fans if you don't want to run the stock ones. Noctua fans are best IMO i have 3 as intake in my rig, and I also use corsair sp120s for my radiator and af140 for exhaust. Just make sure GPU and radiator have enough clearance for the case.

depends on what you use it for... What games do you play? What software's do you run?
