30°C idle and 50-55°C in full charge

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 1 month ago

Yes I did : I used this https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mWtWGX/phanteks-rgb-led-4-pin-adapter-specified-for-phanteks-cases-with-rgb to plug it onto my motherboard. If you already have a Phanteks case you don"t need the adapter, the led strip can be plugged directly on a connector in the case (maybe not all of them are compatible though, you should check, if you're concerned)

Thank you, but I had the opportunity to get quite fast sticks (2666 MHz) for a good price so I went for it. Future upgrades might be faster sticks indeed!

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

I made the choice of not having RGB. It was cheaper for me and anyway I didn't want/need to be able to change colors. Each fans are white only, but there's the LED strip which potentially has 16 million colors, but is limited to 7 by my motherboard. And since everything is white, every color looks great! Look at the last few pictures when I put it in dark blue

But if you wanted to go RGB you might need some RGB hub like Corsair does to sync everything

I don't know sorry, mine is real glass and I used spray paint meant for glass, but you should be able to use any spray paint meant for your support, just buy in consequence what you need :)

hazyhope's Saved Part List: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 2 months ago

The frame of the tempered glass is white instead of black since I've spray-painted it :) For the USB hub : http://amzn.eu/d/cPgGGVW

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

This one's white only, I didn't need the extra-cost of RGB since the build is white-themed. But if I'm not mistaken I believe there's another version, more expensive, with RGB LEDs :)

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Yes it does (you mean the fan, right?) and it's PWM so the 4 LEDs are quite bright!

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Yeah they do but they're not PWM so the brightness is proportional to whatever current you feed them with. I personally set all the fans at the bare minimum in the BIOS (at low temps, so most of the time) so it's not really bright, but my fans aren't noisy :)

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

Thanks for your comment! Yeah for the CPU cooler in the future I might go for a Deepcool Captain 240EX White (it has a bit of black though lol), otherwise I'll stick with the default fan, it suits the theme and I'm very happy with the temps so there's no real reason to switch imo :) As for the GPU there was a budget constraint, I got my 1060 used (but in perfect condition)

Lovely pics! Cool build also, as cold-looking as mine lmao

First spray was "Julien" brand but was faulty halfway through, so I finished with another one, no-name brand at the french Walmart equivalent. Both were paints for every surface (wood, metal, glass...) I painted the PCI brackets with it too

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 2 months ago

lmao actually I made the photos a bit brighter, but it produces a fair amount of light anyway lol

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Lmao I find it pretty convenient too, but know that it's not part of the case, it's a hub I bought separately and put on the front

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Yeah I've mixed my first song with them and they're gorgeous. The sound is pristine but does not lack bass, I love mixing videos with them too!

The speakers are actually really decent for the price I paid for them (40€) and yeah with the knobs I could choose 'my ideal' balance :)

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Haha thanks a lot for the kind words!

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Thank you for the knowledge! But for all I know those are not really professional speakers haha

When I'm mixing I'm using a Sony MDR-7506. I also had two monitoring speakers but removed them since they took too much place on the desk, they heated up too much for everyday use and most of all my room is not soundproofed :/

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

There's only the LED strip that can be other than white, but with this motherboard I can't have more than 7 colors... The most beautiful imo are white and blue (you can see on one of the last pictures the blue effect)

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks, yeah that was the main idea, I aimed for a clean and minimalistic build

jacobsamdal's Completed Build: Brother Build

hazyhope 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Wow man I love the theme! What do you think of that watercooling system? I might upgrade to its white version in the future

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

Tell them louder!! Haha yeah finding the most white-themed parts was a huge task

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Hey no problem! I sold it 700€ three months ago with almost all the drives I had in it. And I sold separately the last 2TB drive for 35€ so 735€ in total.

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Thanks! Yeah but mostly it was kind of ruining the theme without it, with the black PCB... :P

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Don't be so rude towards yourself haha, thanks anyway!

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 3 months ago

Haha thanks a lot man! Those are the Genius SP-HF1250B

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Thanks dude!

The main reasons I bought it :

  • The price, quite reasonable and on top of that with discounts I could get the TG version for the price of the acrylic one

  • The design, it's so minimalist I love it and in white imo it's just so beautiful! Just disappointed they haven't made a full white with white frame, PCI brackets and cable passes... Had to remove those ones cause I couldn't paint them!

  • The small size factor: I'm coming from a Corsair 650D and it's sooo small comparatively but has plenty of space in it !

  • The airflow doesn't seem cluttered, I have 3 SP fans in the front. All of my fan curves are set in the BIOS at the minimum when in idle and I can't hear them, and the temps are wonderful so I guess there's no problem ! And even when I'm gaming or working, the only fans I hear are the CPU and the GPU fans!

Downsides I found:

  • The glass panel is really not that practical to remove. When the tower is in vertical position you have to be careful when unscrewing (for 1 minute and a half...) or it will fall. Also there's some rubber spacers which aren't glued to the panel so be careful not to lose them!

  • The front panel is incredibly difficult to remove, I'm always afraid I'm gonna break it, but it doesn't haha

  • Small detail but the light in the front doesn't have the same color temperature as my led strip when it's white, but eh, not their fault...

  • Cable management is overall great when you don't have too many drives but be careful to the length of your PSU. I almost bought the 750W white version of Corsair but I've seen in a video showcasing it and this case that there was a really small space before the HDD cages... I chose the 550W which is shorter and I've also had trouble with the cable clutter beneath the PSU cover...

So I'd say yeah, when you have finished building it and don't plan to open it every single day, it's worth it haha

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Hey thanks!

Well I must say it was kind of a mess, mostly because it was my first time doing that much 'modding' for a PC :P

I removed the edges of the plastic film but kept the center protected by it, and used some masking tape ending at the limit within the frame. For the corners I tried to fold and cut the tape to make it fit the corner, but I shouldn't have. I spray-painted multiple layers after that (3 I think, maybe a bit too much). And when I removed the tapes when it had dried it was a bit messy and the limits were gross... Not to mention the corners! Might be the ****** masking tape I bought, or the paint, or my doubtful skills haha, but to minimize the mess I put masking tape the other way around, covering the painted parts, and used turpentine on a cloth and I rubbed all of the residues. It was a bit better after that but still when I watch it closer I can see small imperfections and traces... Hope it helps! :)

Thanks! Because I have tried W10 and hated it...Until 2020 I prefer to stay on W7 and after that I'll see!

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Yeah I've got it from Hybrid Cooling Modding, it's a french website but if you live in the USA they recently partnered with Newegg I believe! Now the backplate I ordered to him was a custom one (I asked him to paint it white and remove the HCM logo) so I don't think it would be possible through Newegg...

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 3 months ago

Really? I have 6 of them in my case and I can barely hear them...

hazyhope's Completed Build: Winter is cooling

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 3 points 3 months ago

Haha Actually quite silent when you tweak the fan curves in the BIOS! Only when I'm in game the GPU is quite loud, but it's because I put a custom fan curve so I'm always under 60°C

GUYS I SOLD IT !! I mean I found a buyer and if everything goes well, in around one week I'll swap the old chap for 700€. Sold 2 more drives with it. I still have a 2TB Barracuda for sale and I'll be in good terms with this build after that :)

  • CPU Intel i7-3770k - 150€
  • GPU Asus HD7850 - 60€
  • RAM Corsair Vengeance RED 2*8GB DDR3 1866MHz - 90€

TOTAL 695€

Haha thank you yeah it seems complicated, I almost bought a Phanteks 2m RGB LED but it seems the magnets are not strong enough.... Maybe I'll wait since a better product comes out since the 60€ Corsair Light Node Pro seems great but it's a bit too pricey for what it is...

hazyhope's Completed Build: My old chap

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 6 months ago

Thanks ! Actually I found a buyer 2 days ago, I'm selling in a week because I'm currently receiving all the parts of the new one :)

hazyhope 2 Builds 2 points 6 months ago

Thanks for the answer ! Unfortunately they seem unavailable anywhere in my country, I think it's only sold in the US... :( Yeah I've just received the case today and I noticed that little hole, good job on making this little trick !

lightbulb590's Completed Build: My First PC Build

Nice one ! Love the black/white scheme. Also that's a great layout, I like how you put the case behind the screen with the window facing you :)

Forum Topic "Saying goodbye to my old chap - What does it worth ?"

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

In fact I'm not planning to sell each component separately (except for the 2 TB HDDs and the small SSD), I'll sell the PC as a whole but the list on top of this page is just an estimation of what each component is worth

Forum Topic "Saying goodbye to my old chap - What does it worth ?"

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

Thank you for the advice, will adjust accordingly

Forum Topic "Saying goodbye to my old chap - What does it worth ?"

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

Thank you for your answer, yeah okay so not far from what I expected. But why can't I sell even at the right pricepoint :( I lowered the price to 595€ with the bare minimum storage because I thought it would not sell because the price was too high with all the drives, and that it did not suit most of the people's needs generally... But even stripped to the maximum I have a hard time seeing it go away haha, I hope the right person will come quickly

hazyhope's Completed Build: My old chap

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 2 points 7 months ago

Well thank you for taking the time to support your argument. I'll try to look for similar rigs for sale and adjust accordingly.

hazyhope's Completed Build: My old chap

hazyhope submitter 2 Builds 1 point 7 months ago

... which is, according to you ? I've posted here that I think it's worth 685€ (795$) https://pcpartpicker.com/forums/topic/282796-saying-goodbye-to-my-old-chap-what-does-it-worth

Let me know if you think this estimation is good or too much, thanks :)

Great job man, I also plan to take this case to make a full white build. I absolutely love how the led strip doesn't light in "spots" like I'm desperate to see on various builds, especially in the bottom it looks like it's a continuous light, what is it you used for this ??
