Im totally jealous... XDDDDD
Wow, good deal my friend!! Good Deal. Now if i was in the right place at the right time to get those discounts,etc...XDDDDDDD
DAYUM.....Thats a really nice OC.... and you have a really good chip too!!! XDDDDD
Hi i loved your build by the way, its very minimal and clean....May i ask why you chose that case??? And also how in the world did you get a "partial refund"???
Ok thanks i will be waiting then....!!!!!
hey dude do you think that the fx 8000 series is still good for linux and maybe gaming in windows as well as video editing, music production, etc??? Or should i just go with intel??
oh ok thanx for the info!!! And if the first x61 slot was faster than you would only gain maybe 1-5 fps at most so its good in the second slot.....Smart move dude and nice build!!!
Do you even vape bro?????
Lol I love that, i think that helped make my day.... XD
Dont put your graphics card in the bottom slot your are most likely getting less performance becuase the lower you go in slots on the motherboard the less bandwith your graphics card has available to it so you want to stick in the top slot for best performance.... I would suggest sticking it in the 2nd slot to get better performance than you are currently getting....
oh yeah i saw that video with science studio, i like his videos... Anyway, thye said that they also release a compatibly mode that runs the graphics card in compatibility mode so that it wont go over the pci experess limit... I think that amd left out the 8 pin simply because were going for the 750ti type of power usage but at a gtx 970 performance level and a gtx 960/r9 380 price point...... And they delivered, just not on the power side of things...I think they build the rx 480 on the power saving perspective not the overclockers or performance enthusiast perspective.... Also amd has slipped a wide range of optiimizations and performance enhancements so that if compatibiliy mode is turned on then it wont really have much of a performance difference.... An somehow they fixed the issue and rx 480 sees performance improvement as well..
Be careful about your motherboard dude as the rx480 is out of PCIE compliance. it is reported to draw more than 75w from your motherboard and can kill your motherboard and it pcie slots as well as well as short it out becuase its pulling more power than what MSI and the PCIE standard should be....
Here are some videos and articles:
And dude keep your drivers updated as it might most likely fix this problem.......... For me i would check DAILY for this driver as a driver should be on the way to fix this.. As a pcpmasterrace member i care for you and tyour hardware....Just lookin out for your bro!!!
NOICE build by the way!! It looks clean......
I currently have this cpu in my build as a backup for my 4790k being rma'ed by now and im loving it overclocked to 4.6ghz on the core and 4.5ghz on the uncore/cpu cache and its flying...!!
I too have a pentium g3258 overclcoked to 4.6ghz for the core clock and 4.5ghz on the uncore/cpu cache and it is a beast getting a 7.8 in windows index for cpu calulations per second...!!! Games run smoothly at 1080p with no stuttering... System is still responsive like my 4790k....Just not as powerful obviously in video editing as well as musicproduction....
I currently am waiting for a 4790k rma to happen as mine decided to take a sh1t on itself with the integrated memory controller and all. And plus the gold contact pads are messed up for some apparent reason..... Hope this one runs cooler and overclocks better!!!!
OMG that case, and cable management......... I have such boner right now lol.... + 1
ALso overclockl that video card you can get so much more performance out of that thing.. The 7870ghz editions.
Also the fx 8350 you can get A SH1TL0AD More Performance out of that as well so i think that you are going to have fun with the machine hope you enjoy it. Also the benefits of being on the AMD platform are that yoou can overclock and get the most out of it which would put you near an Intel/Nvidia Setup when it comes to performance and price to performance.......
Love your build especially for a first build i remember that i got that mistake of getting an non modular power suppy and i dont think ill do that again because that descision o doing that not only limited my cable management but the fact that i am already bad a cable management i think that it just made things a bit worse.....
Hey dude nice build i like the sleeved cables you have in your build. It looks very organized, etc. Also i dont have a modular power supply so i think that will be my next upgrade as it limiting me to not even getting close to your build when it comes to cable management. Also im upgrading to the same cooler as you from the Noctua nh d15 with 3 fans and i live in a desert and unfortuantely air cooling is not cutting it at all.
What are your temps i want to make sure that my temps arent stratospheric and normal....???
Dat Build= FREAKIN BEAUTIFUL
I have the exact same processor and im going to get the same cooler im on an nh d15 with 3 fans and unfortuately it isnt cutting it becuase i live in a dessert so its not cutting it.......
Can you tell me your temps of your 4790k???
Loving the Build i have the Exact same processors and motherboard and 2 x 8gb kingston hyperx memory ddr3 1866mhz overclock to 2400 mhz....
Loving that cable management bro i have the nh d15 with 3 fans and im upgrading to the same exact cooler as you because of the asthetics and mobility of the cooler as well and i live in a desrt so upgrading to aan AIO means better temperatures and more effecient operation so i want to see how that pans out... How are your temps on the 4790k???
I once Knew a guy that hated bread....
Rye dont Knead to say what happened. Its Butter that way....
What Happened when the Bakers wife went home early???
She caught her husband Masterbaking!!!!
Why doesnt Bread like warm Weather???
Things get Toasty!!!!!
Then Lettuce All Find a Cool AMD computer together.. XD
Fat Cats are ALWAYS CUTE i dont know why......
Oh Stop Loafing Around!!!!! Im Serious....
Ok thanks, Ended up choosing the Corsair h115i. I think that it asthetically looks pleasing more the the Kraken x61 and i think that meanwhile NZXT has a longer warranty i think that Corsair Has a Better warranty protecting you from leaks, etc. And plus if i wanted the same performance as the kraken i can just put the zxt fans on my corsair one and do a push pull getting even better temps than the kraken x61...
How does Darth Vader Like his Toast????
A LITTLE ON THE DARK SIDE!!!!
Im going to ask you a question: Rye So Serious...????
Why are bread jokes so funny ???? BECAUSE THEY NEVER GET MOLD!!!!!!!
I guess you can say that this Thread is Rising to the Top because It's popularity seems to be leavening quite quickly.
Ok thank you, i think im going to choose an AIO for now since the added benefit of a custom loop..... Also what do you recommend the NZXT Kraken X61 or the Corsair H115i(The Newer Version of the H110i GTX).??I have heard nothing but good things come from corsair but at the same time i have heard that the kraken x61 has still had the best cooling performance and that the cam software is user friendly and some even say that it is better than Corsair Link. So what is your opinion??? Have you had any expeiences with Corsair or NZXT products??
The reason i added in a custom loop in the question is because i live in an area that's really really hot.....I mean a DESERT where is can get up to 120F. I live in a place where PC's barely get by when it comes to overclocking and air cooling. I remember not too long ago when i was beginning to overclock for better performance when i only could stress test at night and go to sleep in the daytime(yeah my sleeping patterns were ****** up) just to check if the system was stable. I now have a rock solid overclock of 4.4ghz and 4.2ghz on the cache. The problem is that at 1.200v it stil;l gets kinda hot because of the ambient temperature. So im looking for an alternative becuase i know my chip can go higher and its a really good overclocker but it needs a better cooler...I will also be adding in the gtx 1070 sometime soon so i was wondering if watercooling was worth it at this point in your opinion???
Or should i just get an AIO like you said???
To answer your question about the swiftech h220x its an incredible bargain for custom loops as it has 250 dollars worth of aftermarket parts when it comes to the actual value of the parts....
What kind of aio would you recommend?? A Swiftech h220x or Kraken x61?? Or another aio would you recommend??? Or just go with a custom loop????
Hey dude, just a tip you shouldnt use prime95 for stress testing as it is a power virus that can damage your hardware. Use something thats approved to use on skylake like OCCT which has linpack AND OCCT stress test built right in. Also another thing i recommend is RealBench which is free(as is OCCT) and it does real world stress tests on your cpu and stresses different parts of the cpu as well. If you want to continue using prime95 you should try something like InterBurnTest which is a linpack based stress tester but it is faster when it comes to detecting whether your cpu is stable or not. It goes usually like 8 mins of intelburntest linpack= 40hrs of prime95 stress test. So you can also check if your cpu is 100 percent stable at anywhere from 25-50 runs on the maxiumum setting, 50-75 on the very high setting, 75 to 100 runs on the high setting, and finally 100-125 runs on standard. Some people will tell you ALOT more runs than that but its just safe to go by this guideline as its easier and it takes less time..
Wow, dude maybe i should get one of those....but would it really be a tangible benefit between that and a noctua nh d15 with three nf-a15 fans on them??? What do you think???
And yes i could put the pc in a ice bucket or just shove it in the freezer XD.........
I think you hit both lol....XD
Either you are living in Antarctica, or you are living in a normal place but using a frost-driven cooler, or subzero cooling-----wait never mind youd get even LOWER temps but its too much work to use subzero cooling.
While that is good, to note and i agree... At the same time skylake needs more voltage to get where haswells lowest overclocking cpus were at i mean haswell cpus were the first to reach 5ghz on liquid and watercooling, where as skylake hasnt/isnt even got/getting close. Also You have technologies like c1e and SpeedStep that clockdown and reduce voltage of the processor when not in use... I mean gaming at most tends to use maybe 75-80 and im being generous. Video editing tends to use 100 percent but then again who as a regular consumer video edits all day and keeps thier cpu at 100 percent??? If they do that then they need the x99 platform anyway...
did you try overclocking using the baseclock or just the multiplier??? If so try using baseclock, etc to bump it up..... I mean you many not have won thje silicone lottery you still have the IPC of skylake to make up for it...
U know that the current processor you have is binned to go to 5ghz at 1.4v to 1.5v right?? What are you waiting for??? DO IT!!! Lol
4790k is better becuase you don't have to have get the ddr4 ram. I mean my 4790k is overclocked to 4.4ghz at 1.200v on a noctua nh-d15 and temps are lower than most aios on the market. Also i have a cpu cache overclock or oncore overclock to 4.3ghz which netted me an extra 6 percent in performance not only in games but in daily use applications as well. I also think that the cache ratio overclock has helped with singlethreaded performance tasks as well. Although everything is nice and well on my side i urge you not to use the stock cooler as it WILL over heat if you dont keep it pegged at 4.0ghz. Dont let it turbo to 4.4 on stock cooling as it WILL overheat and you will see temps into the 100s, at least thats what happened to me. And about skylake, it onjly has a 6 percent performance in IPC and in Everything else including gaming i think that we 4790k owners will be very happy about how long our processor lasts as you see the owners of sandybridge processors are laughing their a$$ off right now and still going strong and with vulkan coming along it will allow their processors to stay relevant even more so!!
Hope i could help and sorry im late to the forum
No prob!! I got the 4790k at a MicroCenter deal for 240-250 as well as 20 dollars off of a MSI Z97 GAMING 5!! Which nettted me about 400 dollars walking out with it vs the 6700k which was/is alot closer to 400 dollars itself plus the motherboard which i wouldnt save 20 dollars on. Overall i got everything for the price of an intel core i5 4690k and a motherboard combo and it was definitely worth it instead of going to skylake. Also like you said it is blazing fast like you said especially compared to my last build, in terms of editing, and music production when especially overclocked it gets closer to the 5820k on the x99 platform!! So thanks for helping me make a cost effeicient choice!!!!
HyperThreading for 4 cores/ 8 threads because if it was HyperThreadiung for 8 cores, that would make it an Intel Core i7-5960x and we all know that that cpu and platform is out of most peoples budgets.
Thank you so much for correcting that im not the best in geography. LMFAO!!!!
Austria =/= Australia
"I knew that"...... :(
Currently laughing my A** off right now!!!!! LOL
Hey dude do you know anything about sata cable lengths??? becuase my motherboard manufacterer only bundled two sata cables in my motherboard box and i need more....
So would you recommend that i get a 500gb version later and save up for it or a 250gb now and add another one for raid 0 later???
Hye dude i know that this post was 12 months ago but australlia is NOT a backwater country. I mean you guys have NOCTUA in your country(yes their company is based in austraillia) so that means if you need any fan clips or any type of mounting hardware or rma for the nh d15 you may or may not have bought then nouctua with be able to service you right away!!!!! Plus with noctuas renowned customer service I dont think that you should have a problem. Also the NH-D15 is cool and quiet and with lots of ram compatiblity I currently am running 3 fans on mine 4.4ghz undervolted and load temps are about 50-55C during games and 60-65C during stress tests XDDDDD!!!!
Ok will do thanks!!! And do you recommend raid 0 at at because people keep saying: "Oh its not safe you shouldnt do it" But at the same time im only putting os and programs on them so i wouldnt think that the risk of data loss is that catastrophic for me......What do you think????
What are your opinions on the 850 EVO????
