Right Now is the best standard of living in history. It's just a lot of people are Entitled, or Hypocritical SJWs, or Lazy, or just plain Stupid. That being said, that can be fixed if we try to educate people about the real world. While that would be hard to do... its easier than inventing a time machine, don't you think?
Answering my own survey because why not XD
A E & F
Both... But b probably just edges out A.
All except a
All of the above
7 Is somewhat vauge. However, quite a lot of people add gaming capabilities to home computers if they so desire that extra umph, and rarely have the home and gaming PCs separate. That's why I worded the question as I did.
Thank you for participating!

What is this equally as interesting thing? Still working on it?
Yes. Swap it for something like a 250x... no idea why he picked a quadro for a build not made for graphic design.
And why a xeon e5 on x99 instead of xeon e3 on h97?
Once you have accepted a challenge, it cannot be un-accepted. How is "another PC in the wall" coming along :p
Can you play cities: skylines on Wii U?
That is a fairly sub-par deal. Hit up @skemble https://pcpartpicker.com/user/skemble/. He builds PCs for clients and is well reputed. Its not as cheap as building yourself, but its a better deal that what you chose.
That's windows 7. With windows8 (and presumably 10) you need a new license if you change mobo.
Windows is indeed tied to the mobo if he bought a OEM license.
@op If you cheaped out and went oem instead of boxed, you will need to rebuy. Sorry.
Please don't say "like a teenager: as if we all do that... only the bottom 35% of us on the iq scale use that kind of stupid abbreviation more than once in a blue moon. (Made up statistic, yay!)
+1 Because intel is kind of a dumb reason. An intel build could be a whole lot less powerful and balanced than an AMD build... And what is up with these abbreviations?
Can it be? A comment from you with no upvotes?
Wait: was that actually you? XD
Dammit man, you missed the chance to be the most popular man on PCPP by having a dual titan give-away :p
The more you know insert bright sounding "dun dun dun duh"
You should see if you can play sonic and Mario at the same time. Inb4 the PC catches on fire.
That's what I was worried about... No-airflow case and a reference GPU... heat LOVES my build.
Same here. I am gonna try to revemp my machine with the new amd stuff at some point in 2016 (Like, fx-8450 + r9 380x or whatever it ends up being called)
What I'd like is "only show gfx cards under $xxx" for parametric filters.
+1 on this comment for making me chuckle. It's not always true, however :p
z97 and liquid cooling for the "s" version of the cpu? Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa?
Presumably for upgradeable. That mobo has only 2 ram slots.
You have to remember, macbook pros use iris pro graphics (or r9 M375), as opposed to the desktop hd graphics. But I agree, since you have a dedicated GFX card, who cares about ig?
Bad brand. Which power supply do you have?
Yeah, I think I might do that.
It might of, but I didn't think of it. Anyway, how is the actual information on the final presentation.
Because i didn't want to wait a day to get maybe 1 more post. From what I've seen on this website, after about 20hrs, topic slow WAY down. It didn't seem worth it to me.
Considering the amount who will respond to stuff in the 'General discussion' forum, it's a decent amount. Most seem to stick to the part opinion wanted type forum post.
8 The former, then I can build a computer again sooner.
Yay, you responded. I am gonna be perfectly honest, I was kind of expecting you to be a "windows elitist", or at least not a Mac guy. Anyway, thanks for the info.
Hopefully more people respond. If I could get 10 or so responses I could make a spreadsheet/ statistic table based off the data and publish it to the community.
Questions expanded/ made clear
Question 6 slightly clarified.
Hmmm... maybe, but I'd need more data. Might even get fancy with spreadsheets or something (though, again, only if I get more than 2 responses that aren't by me. Tell your friends!).
No. Having 11 Questions would bug me, so I'd have to add 4 more and make it 15, which would be unnecessary.
What was your first computer and when did you get it?
Single core Compaq presario from 2003... I got it in 2009. I rmember getting 5fps in minecraft alpha on lowest settings.
What was the first computer you built and when did you build it?
A server machine in august 2014. I have upgraded other machines, however.
What is your main usage of computers?
School, internet, gaming, minor game development.
Do you come from a techy family, or are you the only one in your family?
I come from a VERY tech-oriented family. My dad was actually the on who convinced me to build a PC as opposed to buying a pre-built.
What is your favorite operating system?
Debian-based linux. I use ubuntu for my laptop, and debian with xfce4 for my terraria server. (Though, I do use windows on my gamin PC, and OSX on my school machine)
What do you consider the sane price range for a consumer computer?
$600 - $2,000 (Sweetspot being $800-$1200)
What is most noticeable upgrade to a machine you have made?
I remember installing an ssd in soneone's server... while I do not own said server, the performance during the time I was setting it up was jaw-dropping
Do you prefer a machine that has cheap parts that will last at most three years, but preforms amazingly well, or do you prefer a machine that is weaker, but will last over five years and is upgradeable?
Mechanical or membrane keyboard?
I like mechanical keyboards, such as the old Imac one I am using now, but I deal with a membrane one for my gaming PC.
Do over 1080p resolutions (1440p, 4k, 5k, etc) make sense for you? Do you use multi- monitor setups?
Not really. 1080p has always been fine for me with my 23in monitor. However, if I got a bigger monitor it would be different.
Wait... so you're using a kick-*** gaming system to stream gameplay from a console?
Absolutely true... Unless the game chokes on the 2gb memory (as I said)
Depends. The second the game uses over 2gb vram (as many games do), the 960 drops off a cliff. The 4gb 960 does beat the 280, however.
Even just the 280 (non x) at $180 beats out the 960
280x > 960
Other than that, good job. This is a, well, solid gaming PC
Oh yeah. 1.4gHz dual core? In a over $1,000 machine? REALLY, APPLE?
"Starting at $1,999"
Not as powerful as this machine, but really, do you NEED 32gb ram? The "low end" imac with the i5 and M290x is fine for most photo editors (the target audience of this product).
Now, if you can beat the $1,999 model, THEN I'd be impressed.
So... this is a $2,000 all in one with a 5k monitor, right? And it uses ~110 watts at idle, right? And of course, the OS runs natively in 5k without weird scaling... right? Right? If not, this is nowhere NEAR a 5k iMac equivalent, stop saying it is.
Not saying that this is a bad build, but it is missing the form factor, is $1,500 more expensive, and does not have the quality control or warranty of an iMac 5k.
P.S.: I am FAR from an apple fanboy (If anything, I'm a Linux fanboy...). I just find false claims such as claiming this is a 5k iMac equivalent disgusting...
K... two people warned me about that paste, time to get something else.
Two mice? What? (Fail)
All I need now is a case. Other than that, here's my plan:
PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant
ahem I may or may not stolen the idea from the snakebox 2013 ahem
Can I connect my 970 to it?
