Nice build, components and monitor! A GTX 1080 for $380. Amazing deal! That's what I paid for my 1070 late Nov. When the new NVidia drivers come out in April you might be able to get some decent ray tracing out of it at at Medium or High settings. Enjoy!

I have the same issue with my RAM on an ASUS B450 MB. I bought 2 seperate 16 GB kits and later learned I should have bought 1 32 GB kits because they are certified at these higher clock speeds as a single kit. At 3100 speed I'm quite satisfied.

Thanks for the indepth analysis of your build. I just would have liked to have hear more about sound dampening and fan curves. Just kidding. I would prefer dental cavity drilling without novacane instead. I just hope you created a "Silent Build", the requirements for which you can find online. Good work!

Awesome machine! Nice job keeping it under $5K. A good thing you selected a MB with 8 SATA ports as you needed them all.

I still have a SB 2400 CPU and it works fine for anything but gaming so I built my forst PC in Nov and love it. I started gaming in the mid 70s on my TV with games like pong and block out, progressing to PC gaming in the 90s with games like Myst and Riven, where you were happy to get 1 frame per sec at 640 res. Now you are playing at 144 fps! Say WHAAAAT!

I disagree since streaming is one of the use cases. Without the need for that, changing to the 1660TI is a no-brainer and reduce the price to the magic $1K figure.

When buying higher speed RAM you should buy it in one kit because each kit is tested on ots own and not guaranteed to work with other kits, even if they are the same part number from the same vendor.
