MSI Build Your Dream PC Guide - "Dungeon Dragon"
Here is my guide to my Dream PC, hope you like it. Please vote, share and comment, I would like to know what you guys think about it.
Motherboard - MSI Z170A XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM EDITION ATX LGA1151 Have you seen this monster and its design! If the motherboard features, performance and aesthetics matter to you then is just what the doctor ordered. This mobo can make any user happy. Overclocking? This mobo has you covered? Game competitively? This mobo has you covered!
GPU - MSI GTX 980 Ti Gaming 6G If you like your quality settings cranked right up, like me, this card is exactly what we (I) need. For many the 980 Ti is overkill for a lot of games, especially at 1080p resolution. The 980 Ti isn’t also the best price-per-dollar card out there, but it’s an absolute beast, delivering nearly the same performance as the USD 1000 Titan X at a much lower price. If you’re gaming at 1440p or 144 Hz, you’ll appreciate this monsters performance! It’s also extremely quiet and even spins its fans down entirely when idling.
CPU - Intel Core i7-6700K 4.0GHz Quad-Core Processor The Core i7-6700K is Intel’s Latest Skylake processor is a big, juicy bone that Intel has thrown at the PC gaming dogs. The 6700k’s peak clock speed is down a little bit compared to the i7-4790K, at 4.2 GHz instead of the 4.4 GHz Turbo Peak on the 4790K, but the 6700K can all four cores at 4.2GHz under load, which is a performance improvement of 8%. So this Skylake processor has successfully replaced the i7-4970K and takes the crown as the fastest CPU, for the same price for the i7-4970K. Something that you’ll want in your monster!
CPU cooler - CRYORIG H7 49.0 CFM CPU Cooler I prefer air cooling above water cooling as I have no experience with water cooling whatsoever nor do they have it in my Country, which is too bad, something I would like to see. The H7 is the best budget cooler on the market. It is only 145mm tall, has an offset design and is much easier to mount. All three important factors you want to consider for your CPU cooler. The H7 size offers optimal compatibility for RAM with tall heat spreaders.
Memory - Skill Ripjaws V Series DDR4 2666 (2x8GB) Since we have an Intel Skylake CPU for the build, we need to pair it with a DDR4 memory (DDR3 isn’t compatible). According to my research RAM speeds and memory timings aren’t that important for gaming. RAM speed makes more difference in PC tasks. For me an 8GB RAM is minimum for anyone who uses their PC for more than gaming. The extra RAM has benefits if you’ll use Photoshop, or edit video or like to stream.
Storage - Samsung 850 EVO-Series 500GB 2.5" Solid State Drive We may only choose 1 primary storage I assume. So I’ll go with the Samsung 850 EVO 500GB for storing tons of games and other files, but still having great performance. It has a great sequential R/W speed of over 500MB/s. If you’d maybe need more storage for music, photos and other personal files, the Western Digital Black is the HDD I would go with. This black drive has good speed, plenty of storage at a good price, without poor I/O performance.
Power supply - EVGA 850W 80+ Gold Certified Fully-Modular ATX Power Supply Keep in mind for a high-end gaming rig, a PSU should meet three criteria: reliable, modular and well build to support a pair of powerful GPUs. This EVGA 850 meet the criteria. Want important factor, it has 10 years warranty!
Case - Cooler Master HAF X ATX Full Tower Case When choosing a case it is important to make sure it is something that you like and that will fit your needs. Cases are one of the few, if not the only component from a PC rig that will last you through multiple builds. Important factor is look for natural Airflow and Cooling options in Full tower Cases. Cooler Master named the HAF series to stand for "High Air Flow" and these cases truly shine in that area.
I have never gotten the chance to actually build a gaming pc / my dream pc (yet!). After I saw the ‘MSI Build Your Dream PC Guide contest’ where you can win your dream PC, I thought why not give it a shot to maybe win my dream pc. Dreams don’t die so…
Thank you MSI for this opportunity.
