Honestly scared to at this point. But I did have one turned off and there was about 1-2 degrees difference, nothing too much. But there's one on the bottom by the PSU for intake, and two above the mobo for exhaust, and I'm a bit scared of trying to unplug them because of how inaccessible they are haha. I'll definitely give updates on the wear and tear, because I do plan on moving this around to LANs as well! So far everything is holding up, and there's not really any bend!
Aside from the green label, which I do agree, it's to each their own with the fan :) I like the performance that comes with it, but I'm always open to finding an affordable 92mm fan that is good performance as well! I may just get some black tape or something at least to cover it, but thanks for the input!

Yeah, before shipping it off here I did notice there wasn't much of a performance change, so I ended up flipping the PSU once more, and so now it's back to the way it should be. Also did the same for another ITX machine I have, as it seemed to really let the hot air just stay in the case.
Dang both of them? I can't really take off one side of the case here because it's all one piece. Would over/underclocking make the noise lessen at all? It only started recently too, I know before when I was testing some games it wasn't doing it, but now seems to be doing it constantly and the only change is that I inverted the PSU. And the sound is only created when the GPU is put under load. Was tempted to throw my 1070 in there as well to see if makes the same whine.
Hey thanks! I'm surprised I could fit the tiny 80mm there, I used some foam tape as well too, to avoid any possible vibration. I doubt it provides much difference, but hey more airflow is always good!

Nice build! I tried inverting my PSU as well, but couldn't get the screws to stay in. Did your case have any weird bends with the frame or anything?
So I guess it would be out of the question to even attempt a 280mm, remove the hard drive cage, and try and insert it below? I'm just trying to measure it all out but would like some more confirmation about it is all. Thanks for the help so far!
EDIT: Or this may seem incredibly stupid, but would it be possible to get a 360mm radiator, and have two fans installed on it, with the middle one missing so that there is enough clearance for the GPU? The Fractal site states that it's a max of 315mm GPU with the installation of a fan. Since a fan is 25mm and the radiator is 27mm, it would still be possible with barely enough clearance, correct? This is provided the motherboard's PCI slots align with the fan layout, and it doesn't happen to get in between two fans, correct?
I can agree with you on the case, I built one recently with the mesh front and it was fairly easy and nothing looked too scratched. However, there was warping on mine as well too and it took a small amount of bending it around to fix it, and the drive bay won't go on anymore (however, I decided against using it).
I honestly didn't think of flipping the PSU to use as an intake! I may borrow your idea here when I get home from work and try doing that... Thanks for the info!
Thanks! There's actually a small metal support that hangs on the other side and is secured in place by a few screws on the frame. I was very hesitant to install it, but it seems to be rather secure :)

No problem! Depends on what VM solution you're using. I've done testing with Virtual Box and had a setup as such:
Kali as my main VM
There's a tutorial on Lynda (if you have access to it) that guides you how to setup an at-home lab such as that, but the gist for the networking portion is that in VirtualBox, you can create a NAT network in the Virtual Box Preferences, and on each VM you can set your network to be a part of that NAT Network. This network in virtual box can have it's own range of IPs set, and then you can assign it as the default network connector when setting up your virtual machines. Once all are running, you should be able to ping each virtual machine from within the other one! There's some handy videos in how to set it up, and Oracle themselves have a really good blog posst on networking within VirtualBox :)
What Darth had is a good startup for Kali Linux, I've used it before on one of my Pi3's when I was playing around with Linux. I mainly tried using a wireless connection as a Rouge AP, which I had to buy a wireless adapter for, of course. I am unsure, but after some research I'm not entirely sure if you can use the Ethernet port as a part of your setup, but you can use WiFi as previously mentioned, and setup, and it seems there is a nice tool to setup everything as need be called Pumpkin Pi.
However, if you wish to set everything up yourself (since it's for educational purposes of course), there are plenty of tutorials that explain how to setup your own AP with an RPi. I'm still a complete novice when it comes to security as well, but I believe you could perform a MiTM attack and find a vulnerable system that the victim PC is potentially trying to connect to, steal the credentials that it's using to connect, and login as said user on that system. Of course, you're not really connecting to that PC directly, but you're also compromising possible network credentials (providing there is more than one computer at play here). If you'd like a cheap investment for a WiFi dongle that supports promiscuous mode, I bought this one and it worked well for what I was playing around with. Social engineering tools on Kali are also fun to play around with.
As an aside, I think you would end up learning more about the tools themselves if you setup your own lab via VMs that are all interconnected with each other. The RPi is definitely good for portability, though!

Alright perfect. And speaking of space - how much would I exactly benefit from using an SFX PSU? Would it be much better, management wise? Is the price worth it?
